BENTON — Perry D. Eisenhauer, 87, passed away Monday morning May 2, 2016.
He was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Franklin County, the son of Fred H. and Cora (Stephens) Eisenhauer.
He married Iona F. (Sims) on Nov. 23, 1949, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 12, 2015. They were married for almost 66 years.
Mr. Eisenhauer was a Korean War Veteran, and was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Mr. Eisenhauer was a teacher and administrator, starting his career at Joiner school in West Frankfort for five years, the Webster Junior High School in Benton for three years, Grant School in Benton for 15 years and Lincoln school in Benton for 11 years.
He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Benton.
Mr. Eisenhauer is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Barry) Sink of Benton; three grandsons, Tyler (Bethany) Sink of Benton, Preston (Laurel) Sink of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Michael (Courtney) Garavalia of Benton; one granddaughter, Lisa Ann (Bryan) Russell of Benton; six great-grandchildren, Addelyn Sink, Makinley Sink, Jedidiah Sink, Cora Sink, Molly Russell and Mason Russell; two brothers, Leslie (Areta) Eisenhauer of Johnston City, and Leon D. (Jeannette) Eisenhauer of Mahomet.
Mr. Eisenhauer was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Becky Garavalia; and a brother, Richard Eisenhauer.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with Dr. Sammy Simmons and the Revs. Seth Bumpus and Cameron Trusty officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the Benton American Legion and VFW and the National Guard Honor Squad will be in the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
