Linda Kay Rea, 69, of Benton, passed away at 11:11 a.m., on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chesterfield, MO.
She was born on December 26, 1946 to William and Monie (Wiggins) Rea in Benton, IL.
Linda was a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale receiving her Bachelors in Social Work and Psychology. She had previously worked for as a social worker for Shawnee Alliance for Seniors in Hurst for 30 years, but most recently was a home health care provider. Linda was a long standing member at East Benton Baptist Church and recently started attending the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Thompsonville for the last few years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. Linda found joy in drawing, writing poems, crocheting, traveling and playing games.
Linda is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Lynn Rea-Johnson and husband Garry of West Frankfort, IL and Amy Joy Morris of Benton, IL; former husband, Audie Burilson; three step-children, Karen Greeney and husband Jim, Diane Fudge, Stephen Burlison and wife Lynn; three grandchildren, Noah Summers, Deacon Morris and Preston Morris; a sister, Mary Eubanks and husband Wendell; also surviving several step-grandchildren, a niece, Cindy Buntin and husband Sam; a nephew, Curtis Eubanks; a daughter at heart, Michelle Summers; two life long friends, Polly West and Linda McCabe Staple.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a special nephew, Brian Eubanks.
Linda’s wishes was for cremation to be held.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
