Crawford & Associates Engineer Rodney Potts provided a demonstration of the plans for the upcoming Wastena Street Project. Potts says the plan is to expand Wastena Street in order to allow heavier trucks and trailers to drive on both sides of the street in the event of an accident on the interstate to provide an alternate route. The project will widen the road to a 24 foot width with a four foot shoulder on each side. “On farther to the east, we start getting into some of the roadways that we’ll have to deal with… As we continue all the way from the west end all the way to South Wilson, we are open drainage as far as ditches. The problem we run into, once we run into the east end, is that’s when we run into houses.” Potts says the project will go to a curb and gutter and enclosed storm sewer on the north end once it reaches that point of the project.
