East Shuts Down West in Frontier League All-Star Showdown

JOLIET, Ill. – A 2 for 4, 2 RBI performance by Washington Wild Things, Bralin Jackson led the East to a 4-1 victory over the West on Wednesday night at the 2017 Frontier League All-Star game, hosted by the Joliet Slammers.

In the top of the third, the West threatened scoring first by Josh Allen (EVN) tripling before Jose Brizuela (FLO) grounded out to keep the game scoreless.

Rashad Brown (WSH) legged out an infield single. Seth Spivey (SCH) advanced on an error by West second baseman Josh Allen (EVN). A ball in the dirt gave Spivey the chance and registered a stolen base. That chance ended as Bralin Jackson (WSH) struck out swinging.

The East scored first when Kane Sweeney (WSH) doubled to right center. Player of the Week Will Kengor (TC) then smacked a double to right center scoring Sweeney from second. Next, Kyle Pollock (WSH) walked and moved to third following a single by Rashad Brown (WSH), then scoring Kengor.

To lead off the West in the top of the 5^th, John Schultz (EVN) doubled, followed by a single by Santiago Chirino (NOR), moving Schultz to third. The West was held scoreless for the rest of the game.

In the bottom of the sixth, Tanner Lubach (LE) drew a walk.  Sean Godfrey SCH) then doubled to right center, moving Lubach to third.  Michael Elwood (GAT) struck out David Harris (SCH) and Seth Spivey (SCH) back to back before letting up a two-run double to Bralin Jackson (WSH) but would get stranded by a pop up by Kyle Wood (WC).

The West would not go down with a fighting chance when they were knocking on the door in the bottom of the 8^th. Zach Strecker (WSH) to give up singles to Jordan Brower and Blake Brown before popping out Segovia.

The win on the night belonged to Jordan Kurokawa and Brian Loconsole raked the save.
