The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
White County in southeastern Illinois…
Hamilton County in south central Illinois…

* Until 1100 PM CDT

* At 903 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. As much as 1.5 to 3 inches of
rain has already fallen within the past hour. Flash flooding is
expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Carmi, McLeansboro, Grayville, Norris City, Crossville, Enfield,
Dahlgren, Mill Shoals, Broughton, Maunie, Springerton, Macedonia,
Belle Prairie City, Burnt Prairie and Phillipstown.

Additional rainfall amounts of up to an inch are possible in the
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is
harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
