Wind chill advisory goes into effect at midnight until 11:00 a.m. tomorrow

Wind chills expected to be around -15 tonight into tomorrow

Northwest winds will spread Arctic air back across the region tonight. Temperatures will fall to near zero by daybreak Tuesday, and the wind will make it feel like 10 below to 15 below zero in the shaded area. Elsewhere, conditions will only be slightly better with 5 below to 10 below zero wind chills expected. Conditions will be slow to improve Tuesday morning, and wind chills may not climb above zero at all in the Advisory area Tuesday. (NWS Paducah)

…WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
11 AM CST TUESDAY…

* WHAT…Very cold wind chills expected. The cold wind chills
will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed
skin. Expect wind chills to range from 5 below zero to 15
below zero.

* WHERE…Portions of southern Illinois and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN…Midnight to 11 AM Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The cold wind chills will cause frostbite
in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
