Wayne Rex Linck, age 83, of Marion, IL and formerly of Peoria, IL and Ft. Lauderdale, FL passed away peacefully at 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018, in River to River of Marion.
Rex was born on Saturday, September 8, 1934, in Marion, IL, the son of Daniel and Altha May (White) Linck.
Rex grew up and attended school in Marion and was a graduate of Marion High School Class of 1952.
He answered the call of this nation by serving in the United States Army Communication Division and was honorably discharged August 4, 1962.
After returning from service he was employed as a Communication Technician with AT&T in Peoria and in 1974 he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where he continued with AT&T until his retirement in 2006.
Growing up in Marion, Rex was a member of Third Baptist Church. He always loved his church family and was actively involved with Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He enjoyed reading and studying about God’s creation. He was a private pilot and enjoyed riding bicycles and was also a self-taught piano player. His family always enjoyed spending time with him and on occasions hearing him play the piano.
He is survived by one brother, Bill Linck and his wife Ann of Marion; sister, Wilma Miriani of Herrin, IL; sister-in-law, Jeanette Linck of Spillertown, IL; five nieces, Karen Owens and her husband Kurby, of Tennessee, Kathy Lynn and her husband Rick, of Herrin, IL, Kedra Olsen and her husband Dirk, of Chicago, IL, Janis Meixsell and her husband Dennis, of Peoria, IL, and Carol Rendleman and her husband Terry of Marion; two nephews, Danny Linck of Phoenix, AZ and Patrick Linck of Marion, other extended family, and many friends.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, James and Betty Linck, J.D. and Helen Linck, and Leroy Linck; brother-in-law, Bill Miriani; niece, Kristine Tolson and one nephew, Michael Dan Linck.
Arrangements for Wayne Rex Linck have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
The visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018, at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2018, at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home with Rev. Louie Fluck presiding.
Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery of Marion, IL.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of Heyde-Pillow V.F.W. Post No. 1301 and Williamson Post 147 American Legion Ritual Team of Marion, and members of the United States Army National Guard Funeral Honors Burial Detail.
