Janetta Lucille Marteney, 79, of Warner Robins, GA, formerly of Benton, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019, in Warner Robins, GA.
She was born on September 18, 1939, in Benton, IL., to James “Dick” Glover and Jamima Irby Glover. She attended Grant Grade School, Webster Junior High and was a 1957 graduate of Benton Consolidated High School.
After graduation she and her best friend Donna accepted civil service jobs in Washington, D.C., working as secretaries in the Department of the Navy. She married Jack Marteney in 1960, in Virginia. They were blessed with two daughters. Jacklynn in 1961, and Kelly Ann in 1962. Janetta returned to Benton in 1963, and accepted a job at Scott Air Force Base Hospital, In the years prior to her retirement she was the Executive Secretary for the Director of Nursing. She retired in 1999 and moved back to Benton. In more recent years she made her home in Warner Robins with her daughter Jacklynn.
Janetta is survived by her loving daughter, Jacklynn; granddaughter Kelly and husband Brian Gagne; grandson Andrew and wife Melissa Shaw; Great grandsons, which she adored, Jackson, James and Evan Gagne and Zachary Shaw; sister Dixie Simmons; sisters-in-law Cheryl Glover and Francis Glover; nieces Amy Russell and Amanda Rone; nephews Mike Simmons and Daniel Glover; and many great nieces and nephews and her many life long friends from Scott Air Force Base Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kelly Ann; son-in-law, Alan Shaw; sister, Peggy Lou Glover; brothers, Richard Glover, Jack Glover, Jimmy Glover and his wife Mary; and brother-in-law, John Simmons.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton, IL.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at Pate Funeral Home.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Pate Funeral Home. Burial will be privately held at Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, IL.
Per her request memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
