Stewart B. Hungate, age 81, of Thompsonville, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Helia Healthcare of Benton.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery of Benton with Rev. Bert Mitchell officiating. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. The Leffler Funeral Home of Benton is in charge of the services.

Stewart was born on July 28, 1939 in Benton, the son of Paul R. Hungate and Gaye (Daniels) Hungate. He married the former Delories “June” Talley on March 20, 1963. Together they shared 40 years of marriage until her death on July 8, 2003.
He was a retired laborer with the Alton Steel Mill.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Stewart enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trading. He raised and trained Beagle Hounds with AKC Beagle Kennel.
Surviving are two sons: David B. Hungate of Thompsonville, Stewart V. Hungate and wife Melissa of Benton; five grandchildren: Cassy Shamp and husband Matthew, Latasha Hungate, Erica Hensley and husband Ben, Tayler Hungate and wife Ashlee, Grante Hungate and fiancée Madison McGuire; eight great-grandchildren; a sister Lina Zimmerman; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son Paul Dean Hungate; and a sister Pauline Bono.
