Betty Lou Whaley, 84, of Benton, passed away at 1:04 a.m., on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, IL.
She was born on February 25, 1937, to Lawrence and Chloe (Strickland) Wilkerson in Benton, IL. On July 19, 1957, Betty married Donald Whaley and he survives.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and tending to her flowers. She loved taking her grandchildren to Surplus City.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 64 years, Donald Whaley, one daughter, Cindy Lynn Livesay of Benton, IL; one son, Ronald (Julle) Dale Whaley of Benton, IL; one sister, Evelyn Chloe Smith of Benton, IL; four granddaughters, Dawn (Timothy) Renee Vandom, Stacy Lynn Mclauglin, Megan (Ian) Marlow, Molly (Mark) Uhles; three great-granddaughters, Whitney Chloe Whaley, Sophia June Marlow and Ellie Mae Uhles; four great-grandsons, Ty Michael Miller, Austin Dale Miller, Brett Nathaniel Merkel and Lucus Scott Marlow; and two great-great-grandsons, Phoenix Tyler Beal and Maverick James Vallow.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Chloe Wilkerson, and seven siblings.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, 301 South Main St., Benton, IL.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 4, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Pate Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021, at 12:00 p.m., at Pate Funeral Home, with the Reverend Lance Thackery officiating.
Burial will follow services at the Franklin Cemetery, Whittington, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Franklin County Animal Control and will be accepted at the funeral home.
