Jimmy Darnell, 84, of Akin, passed away at 4:30 p.m., on June 25, 2021, at Helia Heath Care and Rehabilitation of Benton.
He was born on October 19, 1936, to Carl and Dana (Marcus) Darnell in Macedonia, IL.
Jimmy enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and listening to old time country music.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton, IL.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021, 10:00 a.m., at Brady Cemetery, with the Reverend Jeff Pullium, officiating.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
