Jeraldean “Jean” Sullivan, age 80, of Benton, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton, with Rev. Jacob Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery of Benton. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Leffler Funeral Home.
She was born on August 19, 1941, in Benton, Illinois; the daughter of Robert McClintock and Rose (Carpenter) McClintock. She married Phillip Sullivan on December 15, 1957, and he survives. Together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage.
Jean was a lifelong member of Grace Bible Church in West City.
She was a dedicated employee with Franklin Hospital for close to 30 years. In her younger years she enjoyed crocheting and playing cards with her circle of church friends.
She had a tremendous love for not only her own grandchildren, but the many kids she babysat over the years. She was a very thoughtful person and cared for everyone. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving is her loving husband Phillip Sullivan of Benton; Together they have five children, including two daughters: Marsha Vaughn and husband Bruce of Thompsonville, Tonya Dawson of Benton; three sons: Matt Sullivan and wife Stephanie of Wingo, KY, Tim Sullivan and wife Joleen of Benton, Jim Sullivan and wife Susan of Benton; seventeen grandchildren: Beau Vaughn and wife Britny of West Frankfort, Miles Vaughn of Thompsonville, Stephanie Higginson and husband Ty of McLeansboro, Alecia Schnaiter and husband T.R. of Benton, Courtney Smith and husband Corey of Wingo, KY, Mattison Sullivan of Wingo, KY, Canaan Sullivan of Wingo, KY, Aaron Sullivan and wife Mercedes of Tell City, IN, Nathan Sullivan and wife Cheyenne of Marion, IL, Cyndi Zsido-Zahid and husband Mohad of Chicago, Casey Williams and husband Tyler of West Frankfort, Bethany Garrett of West Frankfort, Autumn Sullivan of Benton, Quintin Sullivan of Benton, Brandon Bennett of Benton, Lauren Bennett of Benton, Brock Bennett of Benton; twelve grandchildren: Emma, Elijah, Henley, Hayes, Erik, Lochlin, A.J., Grayson, Emma-Jo, Isabella, Keegan, and baby Smith on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; eleven siblings, including seven brothers: Damon, Robert, Gerald, Loren, Richard, Denzyle and Larry; four sisters: Flossie, Lillian, Joyce and Letha.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
