Dr. Arthur Lee Basso-Mulkeytown, IL

Dr. Arthur Lee Basso, 92, of Mulkeytown, IL, passed away on Friday August 26, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Shiloh, IL. He was born on October 14, 1929 to Minnie and Attilio Basso of Christopher. He attended Christopher High School and graduated from the St Louis University School of Dentistry. He married Janice Louella Griffin on February 20, 1954.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice and two sons, Ricardo Lee Basso and Anthony “Tony” Randall Basso.

He is survived by his daughter Cathy Ann (Mike) Guthrie of Caseyville, IL; grandchildren Amy (Dan) Prychitko of College Grove, TN, Katie (Rodney) Fourez of Swansea, IL, Megan (Travis) Eastwood of Zeigler, IL and Michael Basso of Mulkeytown, IL; great grandchildren Steele, Rush, Cruz, and Aria Prychitko, Jase and Owen Fourez, and Ryder, Rhett and Riggs Eastwood; step-brother Jay Elliott and step-sister Cherrye Ryan both of California.

After completing his duty in the United States Air Force he opened his private Dentist Office in Christopher, where he continued the practice until the age of 80, when he suffered a severe stroke. This is a true reflection of his love for his profession.

Earlier in life Arthur enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, hunting and fishing. Being a lifelong resident of the Christopher area he made many great friends who he also loved spending time with. He was known by friends and family for his kind and generous personality, quick witted humor and extreme dedication. He will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be on Thursday September 1, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher with Brother Larry Cook officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
