Franklin County boys basketball preview evening edition

There is a triple header at the Sesser-Vailer Holiday tournament of christopher-bearcatsthree county teams tonight.  The final session starts at 5:00 pm with Christopher against New Athens; followed by Thompsonville and Steeleville; then Sesser-Valier and Galatia in the night cap.

Christopher (3-4) vs New Athens (3-6)

There is one necessity for the Bearcats, that is to get Bradley Young more involved in the offense.

New Athens is led by 6′ 6″ junior Jaxon Heintz.  They have a pretty good guard in Theo Dudeck.

The Yellow Jackets own a 10 point win over Flora, which raised my eyebrows.

I am going with the Bearcats by five. It is going to be a grueling fight for whoever plays at 7 o’clock Thursday night.

Thompsonville (3-4) Steeleville (6-3)

The Tigers look like they might have been poised for a seven or tville-logoeight seed until the wheels fell off a couple of weeks ago.  This is what Tiger coach Pete Gordon has to say coming into tonight’s game; “Steeleville is good, they are well coached. We will have our hands full.  If we can compete and fight, we can have a shot at a w.”

Steeleville destroyed T’ville last year in the consolation championship game.  However, a short handed Tiger team played with them

The big question for the Tigers is, Can they stop Owen Gross.  I am curious who gets the defensive assignment on him.  I say it will be steelevilleJared Payne.  Corbin Fitch and Tyson Kessler might guard him as well.

The SVHT is a pivotal point in the Tigers season.  Even if they are two and out and compete, they are poised for a good second half.

I am going with Steeleville by 12 tonight.

Sesser-Vailer (2-6) at Galatia (3-5)

pitchforkThere are a lot of similarities.  Both teams like to play a lot of people.  Both teams like to push it.

Clark Lance better get him an extra RC product before the game starts from the hospitality room.  He will be announcing a lot of points and a lot of subs.

This will be a very high scoring game.  The back court for both

teams I give a draw.  The Devils have the edge inside.

I am trying to take of an adjective to describe this but the best I could come up with is Galatia plays wild.  They want their opponent to play like this.

I expect it to be a good ball game.  I am going with S-V by six.
