BENTON-  The Rangerettes withstood a scoring drought and beat the DuQuoin Lady Indains 41-26 last night at Rich Herrin Gym.

Rangerette Coach Andy Sloan had this to say about last night’s victory. “It was a nice win for our team. The defensive effort was outstanding and our offense showed signs of life the second half.”

“We need to continue to be more consistent, especially offensively. It’s getting to be the time of year where you shouldn’t be making mistakes you made in December. Those are the things we have to correct to become a better team.”

“Ally Gischer had a solid game scoring and distributing the ball. Zoe Carlton was as good as she has been all year. Eb Casey has been in a little shooting slump and came out of it tonight.”

Zoe Carson led the Rangeretts on the night with 11 points.  Ally Gischer, who eclipsed the 1,000 mark this week chipped in 10 on the night.  Benton was stellar from the free throw line 16/20 80%  Kate Smith led the Lady Indians on the night with 12 points.

Here is what coach Andy Sloan had to say about the upcoming tournament; “It is a very competitive field. We play A-J, Vienna, Carmi, Gallatin Co, then a crossover.”

“I think it is a very balanced field. It will be a challenge for us every night and we will have to be ready to play or will be 0-5 before we can catch our breath. We will look for some kids to step up and give us good minutes. We need all out effort all the time to be successful.”
