Multiple car accident on Route 37 North of Marion

MARION, IL –  There have been reports of a Multi Car accident north of Marion near Dee’s Pets.

CRASH REPORT FROM ILLINOIS STATE POLICE DISTRICT 13 , DU QUOIN

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 13

WHAT: Two Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE: Illinois Route 37 at Cedar Grove Road, Williamson County

WHEN: Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 12:00 P.M.

VEHICLES: 2011 Ford Focus and a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis

DRIVERS: Ford – Bessie S. Ward, a 75 year old female of Vienna, IL – Non-Incapacitating Injuries – Transported via ambulance to a local hospital.
Mercury – Geraldine Covington, a 77 year old female of Herrin, IL – Non-Incapacitating Injuries – Transported via ambulance to a local hospital.

PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigative details indicate both the Ford and the Mercury were north bound on Illinois Route 37 at Cedar Grove Road with the Ford following the Mercury. The Mercury slowed for traffic and the Ford struck the rear end of the Mercury. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to damage.

CHARGES: Ward was cited with Failure To Reduce Speed To Avoid a Crash.
