Lula Faye Midgett – Marion, IL

Lula Faye Midgett, age 87, of Marion, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Hurricane Creek Assisted Living Center of Herrin, IL.
She was born at home on Monday, July 7, 1930 in rural Williamson County, IL, near the Lake of Egypt, the daughter of Clarence Blanchard and Mary Louise “Molly” (Parks) Jones.
Lula was united in marriage to Shirley Taylor Midgett on Friday, September 27, 1957 in Creal Springs, IL and together they shared nearly 55 years of marriage until his death on Sunday, July 29, 2012.
She spent her life managing her home and seeing to the needs of her family. Early in her life time she worked for several years at Sangamo Electric.
Lula was a member of the First Baptist Church of Creal Springs where she was actively involved, until her health declined. She loved to sing as a soloist and in the choir serving her Lord.  After her husband passed away she had been attending at the LivingStone Community Church of Marion.
In her spare time she enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her flowers, and garden, baking and she loved to play bingo.
Her family was a very important part of her life and was always interested in their many activities, especially those of her grandchildren. The memories created will now be cherished by those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her daughter and  son-in-law, Darlene F. and William G. “Billy” Seeger of Marion; four sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence Midgett and friend, Marlene Nash of Dupo, IL, James Paul and Andrea Midgett of Marion, Mickey Gene and June Midgett of St. James, MO and Jackie Dale and Cathy Frey of Marion, IL; nine grandchildren, William Chad Seeger, Ashley Faye Seeger, C. W. Allen, Brookellen Kay Midgett, Paul Michael Midgett, Serena Kathryn Midgett, Joshua Taylor Midgett, Jared Frey and Nickolas Dale Frey; six great-grandchildren, Joshia Midgett, Jazmalyn Midgett, Landon William Taylor Seeger, Cameron James Midgett, Colton Taylor Midgett and Trinity Midgett; two sisters-in-law, Lenawee Midgett of Tacoma, WA and Joy Jones of Goreville, IL, other extended family, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parent, husband; four sisters, Ruth Rendleman, Ina Robertson, Imogene Hudgens and Lucille Jones who passed away as an infant and also 2 brothers, Carl Jackie Jones and Blanchard Jones.
Arrangements for Lula Faye Midgett have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, May 31st from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2018 at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Grider presiding.
Interment will follow next to her husband in McKinney Chapel Cemetery near the Lake of Egypt in Williamson County.
