Muir’s Morning Motivational Minute

‘Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere.’

If you pay even a little bit of attention to the daily news you know there is plenty of upsetting and worrisome stories – Planned Parenthood, Iran nuclear deal and the growing concern about ISIS — are just a few. It’s hard to digest it all daily and still stay optimistic. A few days ago I actually got in a funk about the downhill direction it seems we’re traveling as a nation.

I am certainly not a theologian but a bible verse came to me that gave me reassurance. It’s one I’ve heard many times before. It says: ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me.’ John 14:1. It calmed me and made me smile to think that the world I think is spinning out of control some days is the same world that God created. We can worry about this and worry about that but the bottom line is this: God is in control, period. Remember (and I’m talking to myself too) worrying does not empty tomorrow of it’s troubles it empties today of it’s strength.

God’s blessings to you on this day and my prayers is that you remember John 14:1 if even a moment of worry crosses your mind. Have a wonderful Wednesday and a blessed day!
