Alice Faye Summers – Macedonia, IL

Alice Faye Summers, 48, of Macedonia, IL passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at her home.


She was born on December 7, 1971, to Andrew Jackson Trammel and Frankie Marlene (Sims) O’Meara in Kansas City, KS. On September 11, 2009, she married Dwight W. Summers and he survives.

She was a member of the Family Worship Center in Johnston City, IL. Alice was a loving wife and a beautiful person. She loved reading and her animals. Alice enjoyed movies, investigative cop shows and singing.

Alice is survived by her loving spouse, Dwight Summers; her mother, Frankie Marlene O’Meara; one daughter, Casey Michelle Brown; two sons, Joshua Lee Trammel and Kaleb Dwaine Brown; five step-children, Jessica Brown, Megan Brown, Heather Ann (Charlie) Haynes, Jason Dwight (Andria) Summers, Justin Coal (Fallon) Summers; four step-grandchildren, Logan Ford Haynes, Addison Taylor Haynes, Grayson Danger Summers, Greer Adventure Summers and seven step-sisters.

She was preceded in death by father, Andrew Jackson Trammel.

Services have been entrusted to Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Benton, IL.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 3, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Pate Funeral Home, Benton, IL.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at the Pate Funeral Home, Benton, IL, with the Reverend Brad Dexter, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Brady Cemetery.

Rob Dunbar – Marion, IL

Robert Joseph Dunbar, age 62, of Marion, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at his home.

Memorial Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Leffler Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Minor officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton.
Rob was born on May 16, 1957 in Rapid City, South Dakota, the son of Joe Eugene Dunbar and Joyce Lee (Goff) Dunbar. He married the Jennifer Lynn Hensley on May 5, 1990, and together they shared 29 years of marriage.

He was a graduate of Benton Consolidated High School Class of 1975, where he achieved a stellar career in basketball during the Rich Herrin era.

He retired from the Illinois State Police Crime Lab of Carbondale in 2012. Prior to that he worked with the Illinois State Police at District 13 of Du Quoin, Pinkerton’s, Franklin County Sheriff Department, and the Benton Police Department.

Rob enjoyed playing golf, watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Rob was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion.

Surviving is his wife Jennifer Lynn Dunbar of Marion, IL; four children: Alecia Dunbar of Benton, IL, Jeff Moore and wife Hailey of Creal Springs, IL, Dustin Dunbar of Cumberland City, TN, Kara Dunbar of Carterville, IL; seven grandchildren: Dawson, Azhure, Shanndyn, Olivia, Brylynn, Carson, Peyton; a brother Scott Dunbar of Benton; a sister Cindy Schmitt and husband Kyle of Okawville, IL; a brother-in-law: Jim Hensley and wife Nikki of Highland, IL; a sister-in-law: Judy Hayden of Vienna, IL; several nieces and nephews.

Rob was preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Joyce Dunbar; his in-laws: William and Mary Hensley; and a nephew Daniel Schmitt; brothers-in-law: John Hayden and Joe Hensley.

Noble M. Kinkade – Benton, IL

Noble M. Kinkade, 93, of Benton, IL, passed away Sunday afternoon, Dec. 29, 2019 at his home.

He was born in Christopher on March 24, 1926, the son of Charles Leland & Bertha Mae (Smith) Kinkade. On June 1948 in Benton, IL he married Mary Jane (Simpson), and she survives.

Mr. Kinkade was a World War II Navy Veteran.

He was past president of the I.B.E.W. Local 702, and retired in 1986 from CIPS as the Chief Load Dispatcher. Mr. Kinkade, along with his wife was one of the founding members of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he had served as deacon.

Mr. Kinkade is survived by his wife Mary Jane Kinkade; children Mary Dianne Kolodziej, of Benton, Mike Kinkade and Jackie Zimbro, of Benton and Jackie Kirk and Roger, of Benton; grandchildren Christa Robichaud and Tristan, Elizabeth Owens and James Herrell, John Kolodziej and Amy, Ashley Kirk and William McCann, Doug Kirk and Jenny, Michael T. Kinkade and Lexi Craig and Amanda Abbott and Greg; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister Vivian Barham, of Benton.

Mr. Kinkade was preceded in death by his parents, by a daughter-in-law, by two sons-in-law, by 10 brothers and sisters and by his dog, Walker T.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Benton with Dr. Sammy Simmons and Pastor Michael Kramer officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the Benton American Legion & VFW Posts will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Brenda Kay Asher – Benton, IL

Brenda Kay (Cook) Asher, age 76, of Benton, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Stonebridge Nursing and Rehab of Benton.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton with Pastor Perry Musgrave officiating. Burial will be at a future date in Knob Prairie Cemetery near Akin. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton.

Brenda was born on November 3, 1943 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Andrew John Cook and Evelyn Christina (Harriss) Cook. She would first marry Joe Cook, and later she married Jackie Asher, and he preceded her in death in 2001.

She formerly worked as a housekeeper at the Franklin Hospital of Benton and would later work in the laundry department with Benton Healthcare and Rehab.
Brenda enjoyed Gospel Music, especially anything Gaither; she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching the Andy Griffith show, cooking, and she was an avid Cubs fan.
She was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include a son David Cook and wife Betty of Benton; a daughter Janet Cook Budnick and husband Norm of Mahomet, IL; six grandchildren: Ashley Cairel of Urbana, IL, Dylan Stewart of Mahomet, IL, Brandon Cook of Benton, Joseph Cook of Benton, Jacob Cook of Benton, and Caitlyn Cook of Benton; two step-grandchildren: Lauren Budnick of Grand Rapids, MI, and Lindsey Budnick of Seattle, WA; two sisters: Nancy Johnson and husband Jim of El Paso, IL, Joy Cook Loeffler of Colorado Springs, CO; a step-sister Brenda Armour and husband Tim of Odell, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jackie Asher; a granddaughter Jessica Stewart; and a brother Andrew John Cook.

Norma M. McAtee – Sesser, IL

Norma Marie McAtee, age 92, of Sesser, passed away at 4:13 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, with sons Rob, Mike, and Jon, granddaughter Lisa, great-granddaughter Madison, and close friends Kristy Scott, Joy Robinson, Janet and Richard Bush by her bedside.

Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Alan Newman officiating. Burial will follow at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery of St. Louis. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton.

Norma was born on January 20, 1927 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of George W. Sanders and Katie Vivian (Hiller) Sanders. She would marry Elmer Harold McAtee on May 21, 1948, and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2004.

Her working career included being a Medical Marketing Distaff of New Jersey, EMT, and lastly working as an Administrative Assistant with the Franklin County Emergency Management Agency.

She was a member of Second Act, Thursday Pinochle group of Zeigler, and the Wit and Wisdom of West Frankfort.

Norma enjoyed fishing; teaching the Bible; loved to travel in the mountains of Colorado looking at the scenery, especially enjoyed looking at the snow covered trees; loved visiting with family, especially during the holidays. One thing she despised was airplanes.
She was a member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Christopher.

Mrs. McAtee is survived by three sons: Robert Edward McAtee and wife Alyssa of Montrose, CO, Michael David McAtee and wife Sue of St. Louis, MO, Jonathan Mark McAtee of Marion, IL; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters: Georgetta Wilma Lamkins and Marion Worthen.

Keith Polkow- Sesser, IL

Keith Polkow, 76, of Sesser, IL, passed away on December 27, 2019.

He was born on August 4, 1943 in Chicago, IL to Alfred and Eleanor (Lietz) Polkow. He married Cary (Carlo) Polkow on January 4, 1992 and she survives of Sesser.
He is also survived by his children Brian Polkow of Westmont, IL and Kimberly Dunn of Darien, IL and three grandchildren.

He had worked for Borg-Warner for 32 year until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Craig Polkow.

His wishes were to be cremated with a burial at a later date at Mt Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL.

Seaca W. Moss – Benton, IL

Seaca W. Moss, 95, passed away December 26 at Helia HealthCare in Benton, Illinois.

Seaca was born in Benton, Illinois on November 11, 1924, the daughter of Omer (Bill) and Vienna Wyrick.

She was a 1941 graduate of Benton Township High School. Mrs. Moss was married to Robert J. Moss on October 23, 1942.

Seaca is survived by her children: Michael L. (Sharon) Moss of Baldwin, MO, Janet E. (Duane) Hall of Franklin, TN, and Robin D. (Jim) Natelborg of Highland, IN. Her grandchildren: Jason (Heather) Moss of St. Charles, MO, Tracy (Danette) Hall of Edmond, OK, Tyler Hall of Fairview, TN, Jeff (Anne) Perry of Battle Creek, MI, and Jamie Perry of Chicago, IL. She is survived by a nephew George Enchus of West Frankfort, IL.

Seaca’s great grandchildren are Jake, Jack & Joe Moss, Jake (Emily) Hall, Cole Hall, Shiloh (Clay) Burns, Chance Hall, Mackenzie, Ben and Lilly Perry.
Her great-great grandchildren are Porter and Truett Hall.

Seaca also delighted in the lives of dear friends who experienced her circle of love, Derek (Tina) Hutchins and family.

Seaca truly loved and enjoyed her family and many children that were in her loving care through the years. She celebrated her love of family and friends with her warm and inviting hospitality.
She was a member of North Benton Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher.

Mrs. Moss was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Moss.

Danny Williams – Sesser, IL

Danny Lee Williams, age 56, of Sesser and formerly of Johnston City, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2019 at his home.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Family Church of God in Zeigler, with Bro. Denny Bush officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the church.

Danny was born on November 9, 1963 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Vernon Williams and Nancy (Baker) Williams. He married the former Leonda Robinson on July 28, 2019, and she survives.

He formerly worked as a production supervisor with Archway Cookies. Danny was camp host at Arrowhead Campground in Johnston City, where he enjoyed visiting and telling stories with his camping friends and neighbors.

Danny was a Deacon and member of the Family Church of God in Zeigler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a member of the V.F.W., and he was a Mason.

He was a member of the “Good Ole Boys Band”, loved fishing and landscaping, and was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan.

Surviving is his wife Leonda Williams of Sesser; step-children: Terry and Heidi Gunter of West Frankfort, Larry and Dawn Gunter of West Frankfort, Luke and Abby McGill of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren: Landon and Logan Gunter, Avery and Finley Gunter, and Liam and Sarah Jane McGill; two brothers: Jack and Gina Williams of Pittsburg, IL, Steve and Liz Sylvie of Houston, TX; three sisters: Becky and Scott McDonald of Pawnee, IL, Debbie Sylvie of Janesville, WI, and Connie and Don King of Janesville, WI; several nieces and nephews.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; his family that raised him: Ben and Pat Sylvie; his wife Louise; two brothers: Vernon Williams, Jr., and Sonny Williams; four sisters: Vera Crain, Jo Ann McDonald, May Peterson, and Rita Chwarzcski.

Dorothy Craine – Benton, IL

Dorothy Eloise Miller Craine was born on January 23, 1920 in Macedonia to Dora Lillian (Smith) and John George Miller. She passed away on December 22, 2019 in her home.


Dorothy had five siblings: Georgia Idena Robertson, Neva Mae Hess, John Eugene, Darrel Dwain, and Charles Edward. In November 1938 she married Leslie Olen Craine. They were married 57 years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and two nephews.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Ava LaVerne Miller, two daughters, Mary and Jean, two grandsons, Justin and Jesse, two great-grandsons, and fifteen nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of Jackson Grove Baptist Church. She loved to travel, quilt, swim, read, play dominoes, and work puzzles. Most of all she loved doing those things with friends and relatives.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton. Burial will be private.
A Memorial Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the Jackson Grove Baptist Church, east of Benton, with Rev. Don Bullard officiating.

George “Rusty” Robert Eovaldi-Sesser, IL

George “Rusty” Robert Eovaldi, 91, of Sesser, passed away on December 22, 2019.

He was born on January 28, 1928 in Sesser, IL to Joseph and Frances (Golli) Eovaldi. He married Karen Ann (Wiese) Eovaldi on March 28, 1970 and she survives of Sesser.

He is also survived by his children Deborah Anne (Vince) Zaranti of The Villages, FL, Robert Dale (Bendra) Eovaldi of Marion, IL and Georgina Ann (Anthony Veschusio) Krajeski of West Frankfort; five granddaughters Melania Parker, Belinda Eovaldi, Rebecca Eovaldi, Grace Veschusio and Cassidy Veschusio; three grandsons Dr. Johnny Fleming, Corey Fleming and Liam Veschusio; one great granddaughter Keira Anne Kenas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Patricia Anne (Collins) Wingfield and one sister Flora Mae Bertman.

He loved his grandchildren, gardening and fishing.

His wishes were to be cremated. There will be a private family burial at a later date. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser.
