Imogene Lambert – Benton formerly of Christopher

Imogene Lambert, 93, passed away from this earth to heaven on February 18, 2018 at her home at Fifth Seasons Assisted Living.

She was born on January 19, 1925 in Valier to Ethel (Brayfield) Bradley and Earl G. Bradley. She met and married Charles M. Lambert, the love of her life for 73 years and he survives.

To this union two sons were born Alan Lambert (Deceased 1992) and Brad (Kathy) Lambert of St. Charles, MO. In addition to her son, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Other survivors are two grandsons Dylan (Autumn) Lambert of O’Fallon, MO and Ryan (Kate) Cavanaugh of Grayslake, IL and three great grandson Owen, Finn and Jack. One brother Bill (Rita) Bradley of Eufaula, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Christopher High School and made a career as a clerk and checker for both Kroger and Sanitary market. She and Charles were active members of the Christopher First Baptist Church for 20 years before moving their memberships to Valier First Baptist Church where they still serve.

Services will be conducted by Brother Harl Ray Lewis and assisted by Pastor Kevin Bradley.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher with the funeral at 1:00 PM.  Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959 or to the Valier First Baptist Church.

Randy Santor – Benton

Randy R. Santor, 52, of Benton IL passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 16, 2018 at his residence in Illinois.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 22, 1965, the son of Jerry and Connie (Wells) Santor.

Randy graduated from Peru Central School in 1983. After graduating from high school, he worked at Ames and O’Neill Packing before moving to Illinois. Once in Benton, he worked at McDonalds and Ricky Nix Garage for many years.

In his free time, Randy loved to hunt and fish. He also was always willing to help anyone who needed it with the biggest smile on his face. He was a very family oriented man. If Randy wasn’t on the phone chatting and laughing with his loving parents, he was spending time with his Aunt, Uncle, and cousins from Illinois. But most importantly, Randy was a devoted father to his sons, Adam and Joey. He cherished them deeply.

Left to cherish the memory of Randy, in addition to his parents, are his brothers, Terry Santor and his wife, Kathy, and Barry Santor and his fiancé, Franca Leto; his sons, Adam and Joseph (Joey) Santor; as well as the rest of the Santor family and friends who will miss him very much.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Randy R. Santor may be made to his sons, Adam and Joey Santor, to benefit their education.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 21st at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton.

Wanda Treece -Formerly of Whittington

Wanda Mae (Beasley) Treece, age 93, passed away on her birthday February 15, 2018 at Tidewell Hospice House in Arcadia, Florida.  Wanda was born on February 15, 1925, in Whittington, IL to Alonzo Beasley and Evelyn (Clinton) Beasley.  Wanda graduated Benton High School and married the love of her life Jack Ronel Treece, son of Frank and Nora Treece.

Wanda was a retired beautician, who loved spending time with her family.

Wanda is survived by her daughter Judy Lynn (Treece) Jones and her beloved son in law David L. Jones; two grandchildren, Heather L. (Jones) Buntin and husband, Steve; Clinton l. Jones and wife, Jessica; great-granddaughter Megan L. Buntin.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Jack R. Treece and son Larry Jack Treece; her parents; two brothers, Bill Beasley and Donald Beasley.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton, with Bryant Harris officiating.

Andrew Reece – Mulkeytown

Andrew John Reece, 21, of Mulkeytown passed away on Saturday February 17, 2018.

He was born on July 1, 1996 in Mt.Vernon to John and Gisele (Beaudet) Reece.

Survivors include his parents John and Gisele Reece of Mulkeytown; one sister Amber Reece of Mulkeytown; one brother Bradley Restivo, MD of Norfolk, VA; grandparents Romeo and Juliette Beaudet; aunt and uncle Ray and Kelly Beaudet; cousin Hunter Beaudet.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Phyllis Reece.

He worked for the Door Doctor of Southern Illinois.

Memorial service will be on Thursday February 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the St Andrews Catholic Church in Christopher.  Visitation will be on Wednesday February 21, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher.

Andrew was loved by his family and all who knew him and he will be dearly missed.

Albert Adams – Benton

Albert Adams, 83, of Benton passed away Friday morning, February 16, 2018 in Benton.

He was born in Benton, IL on September 26, 1934, the son of Thomas & Minnie (Ahls) Adams.

He married Mary Ellyn Tasky on January 29, 1966.

Mr. Adams was a retired Carpenter. He was an Army Veteran and he attended the First Christian Church in Benton.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife Mary Ellyn Adams of Benton, son Michael David Adams of Benton, three nieces Dwight Morgan, James Michael Ahlfeld, Victor Heath Tasky & wife Traci; niece Pamela Kreher; two great-neices;  Annie Kreher and Kylee Ann Tasky; two step-nephews David Hutson and Charles Hutson, and step-niece Jan Hartsell.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Sisters-Betty Hutson & Dorothy Morgan, and by a Nephew-Robert Morgan, and by a Brother-in-law-Logan Hutson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 20th at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with Pastor Kurt Sanders officiating. Burial with Military Rites conducted by the Benton American Legion & VFW Posts and the National Guard Honor Squad will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton.  Visitation will be after 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Betty Green – Benton

Betty Green, 89, of Benton passed away on Wednesday February 14, 2018 at Helia Healthcare in Benton.

She was born on October 9, 1928 in Christopher to Ben and Nellie (Henson) Parks.  She married Don Green and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2005.

Survivors include one daughter Donna (Jewell) Sims of Benton; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and two special friends Randy Journey and Larry Journey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Kenneth Green, three sisters and two brothers.

She was a member of the Steel City Baptist Church.

Her wishes were to be cremated with no services.

Terry Williams – Benton

Terry Ray Williams, age 70, of Benton IL; passed away at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.

Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton, with Pastor Preston House officiating. Burial with military rites will be conducted by the Benton V.F.W. Post 2671, Benton American Legion Post 280, and the Army National Guard, will be in the Elder S.M. Williams Cemetery near Ewing.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Terry was born on December 30, 1947 in Providence, KY, the son of Ora Stanford Williams and Mary Catherine (Woodring) “Woody” Williams. He married the former Mary Irene Shasteen on July 28, 2006, and she survives.

Terry served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a retired truck driver having formerly worked for Henderson Trucking Company, and last worked for Jim Conner Enterprises.

Terry was a member of the VFW Post 2671 of Benton, B.P.O.E 1234 of Benton, and the Steel City Missionary Baptist Church.  He loved to ride motorcycles, watching John Wayne movies, watching Gunsmoke, and his pets. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

Mr. Williams is survived by his loving wife Mary Williams of Benton; a daughter Stacey Stricklin and husband Michael of Marion; grandchildren Tristan Stricklin of Marion, Maxwell DeNeal of Ava, Taven and Sebastian Klingaman both of Marion; his siblings: Jim Fones and wife Edith of Temecula, CA, Guy Williams of Benton, R. David Williams and wife Debbie of Benton, Stanley R. Williams and wife Jean Ann of Benton, Jeanita Spillman and husband Merv of Springfield, TN, Rita E. Arcieri and husband Kevin of Conroe, TX; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father (March 26, 1999), his mother (February 1, 2018), and a brother Andy Williams (February 23, 2016).

Dennis Sneed – formerly of Christopher

Dennis Sneed, 71, formerly of Christopher passed away on Wednesday February 14, 2018, at 12:50 AM at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

He was born on September 26, 1946 in West Frankfort to Robert Henry Sneed and Helen Mae (Stone) Parks.

At a young age his father passed away and he was raised by his mother and step-father Burford Lauren Parks.

He is survived by his mother, his loving companion Ruby Arview of Thompsonville; two daughters Kimberly (James) Nesler of Herrin and Mandy Sneed of Christopher; two sisters Diane Goggans of Albuquerque, NM and Rebecca Dielfield of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his father, step-father and one brother Robert Sneed.

He was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

Memorial service will be on Monday February 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher with Brother Mark Miller officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Christopher American Legion.

Janet Sue Moore – Mulkeytown

Janet Sue Moore, 55, of Mulkeytown passed away on Tuesday February 13, 2018 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt Vernon.

She was born on June 7, 1962 in Chicago to Nathanial and Donna (Burnett) Lester.

She is survived by her fiancée Marty Phillips of Mulkeytown; brothers and sisters Randy (Mitzi) Troxtell, Mark Burnett, David (Denise) Lester, Billy Lester and Ann (Dennis) Barciszewski.

Graveside service will be on Saturday February 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Harrison Cemetery in Buckner.  Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Ronald “Ronnie” Lynch – Ewing

Ronald (Ronnie) Lynch, 73, of Ewing passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 11, 2018 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was born in Benton, IL on July 28, 1944 the son of Ira & Marie (Briley) Lynch.

He married Carolyn Sneed on August 16, 1962.

Mr. Lynch is survived by his wife, Carolyn Lynch of Ewing; two sons; Dan Lynch and wife Susan of Benton and ,Craig Lynch & wife Shari of Mulkeytown three grandchildren, Brooke Lynch Cecil,Dustin Lynch and wife Tori, and  Kassie Lynch.

He is also survived by three brothers; James Lynch and wife Barbara of Benton, Alfred Lynch and wife Annette of Benton, Michael Lynch and wife Debbie of Mulkeytown; two sisters-in-law; Janet Wilson & husband Bill of Benton, Judy Smith and husband Tom of Benton; a brother-in-law Ronald Newcomb of Ewing; along with numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.

Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister: Sissy, by a sister-in-law: Evelyn Newcomb; by a Brother-in-law: Bob Payne.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018 at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with Rev. Mark Minor officiating.  Burial will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
