Kenneth “Parky” S. Parkinson, 81, of Mulkeytown, passed away on Wednesday October 5, 2022 at Friendship Manor in Nashville, IL.

He was born on February 24, 1941 in Sesser, IL to Carl Clifton and Lula (Hannah) Parkinson.

He is survived by two daughters Christel Martin of Marion and Melissa Plasters of Christopher; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister Carolyn Richrath of Chicago and one brother Clifton “Mo” Parkinson of Coello.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Jean Key.

Graveside services will be on Thursday October 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Mitchell Cemetery in Sesser with Brother Larry Cook officiating. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Jerry Edward McCann, 78, of Benton passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at his home.

He was born in Jefferson County, IL on February 23, 1944, the son of Homer Russell & Alma Iva (Johnson) McCann.

He married Mary Ann Hughes on February 8, 1964.

Mr. McCann was a 50 year member of the Benton American Legion and Benton Elks, he was a 49 year member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Benton Eagles, and the Bocce Ball Club of Benton.
Mr. McCann worked for 58 years as a HVAC contractor employee, then became owner of Reed Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. in Benton.
Mr. McCann served his country as a member of the Illinois National Guard.

Barbara Ann Linneweber, 94, of Christopher, passed away Sunday October 2, 2022 at her home.

She was born on September 1, 1928 in Christopher to August and Mary (Brungo) Janello. She married Harold Linneweber and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Cheri Saul of Christopher; grandchildren Warren (Amanda) Behm and Scotty Behm both of Christopher; great grandchildren Ian and Wyatt Behm and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son-in-law Doug Behm, two sisters Lena Mondoni and Patricia Janello and three brothers Frank Janello, Joe Janello and Jim Janello.

She was the former owner of the Red and White grocery store and the Savoya restaurant in Christopher, she had also worked at Wal-Mart.

Her wishes were to be cremated with no services.

Kenneth W. Lipe, 92, of Sesser, passed away on Sunday October 2, 2022 at Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin, IL.

He was born on March 30, 1930 in Makanda, IL to Carl and Bertha (Braswell) Lipe. He married Dorothy (Reiger) Lipe and she preceded him in death on August 20, 2019.

He is survived by his five children Mark Lipe of Rowlett, TX, Steve (Joni) Lipe of Scottsdale, AZ, Suzanne (Kevin Bailey) Lipe of DuQuoin, IL, Carl (Julie) Lipe of Denver, CO and Marvin Lipe of Marion, IL; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one on the way; 2 great great grandchildren and one on the way; two sisters Barb Benz of Murphysboro, Il and Toni Ferrel of Herrin and two brothers Paul Lipe of Mt Vernon, IL and Jim (June) Lipe of Makanda, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister Evelyn.

Kenny loved his Lord, his Bible and his family. He loved fishing and putting out a garden every year.

Graveside services will be on Friday October 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser with Rev. Paul Lipe officiating. Friends and family are asked to meet at the Cemetery.

Bradley Lowell Tucker, age 65, of Benton, Illinois, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at his home.
His wishes are to be cremated.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton, with Pastor Alan Janneke officiating. Bradley Lowell Tucker was born on June 14, 1957, in Dekalb, Illinois, the son of Gene Lowell Tucker and Eulah Nadine (Clark) Tucker. He married Bonnie B. (Pritchett) Hopkins. They were married for 13 years until her death on December 9, 2018.

He was a former self-employed contractor.

Brad was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of West Frankfort, Illinois.

Brad enjoyed spending time with his two dogs.

Surviving is his loving mother Nadine Tucker of Benton, Illinois; a son Austin Tucker and wife Tammy of Stone Lake, Wisconsin; two grandchildren: Andrew and Natalie; a sister Brenda Crawford and husband Tony of Portage, Wisconsin; two step-children: Leslie Hopkins (Sandy White) of Benton, Illinois; Mark Hopkins and fiancée Heather Murphy of West Frankfort, Illinois.

Klaus Dieter Sterling, age 74, of Benton, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Franklin Hospital of Benton.

Klaus Dieter Sterling was born on January 11, 1948, in Helmstedt, Germany; the son of Paul Sterling and Wanda (Becker) Sterling.
He was a retired X-Ray Technician, last working with the Harrisburg Medical Center. He previously worked as a coal miner for Old Ben Coal #26. When he was younger, he worked in construction as a bricklayer.

Klaus enjoyed fishing and listening to music. He also liked to collect fossils and mineral rocks.
Surviving is a daughter Cindy and husband Bob Salters of North Gassville, Arkansas; a granddaughter Anastasia and family; two sisters: Eleanor Roberts of Okawville, Illinois, and Karen Pluess and husband Jim of Harrisburg, Illinois; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Robert Roberts.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton.

Robert Cyril Bornheimer, age 82, of Whittington; passed away at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Benton, with Father Urban Osuji officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery of Whittington, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton. Reciting of the Rosary will take place at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday under the direction of Sister Laura Reynolds.

Robert Cyril Bornheimer was born on June 30, 1940, in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Cyril Martin Bornheimer and Ella (Strauser) Bornheimer. He married the former Marien Agnes Lewandowski on October 1, 1960. Together they were married for almost 57 years, until her death on January 4, 2017.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard.

Mr. Bornheimer was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Benton, Illinois, and the Knights of Columbus.
Bob was an auctioneer and appraiser for Allied Auctions in which he and his son created. He also performed many charitable auctions across the region. In addition, he also worked at Earth Services in his spare time.
He loved riding his motorcycle, snowmobiles, and side-by-side; but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; especially his grandchildren.

Surviving is his loving son Robert J. Bornheimer and wife Allison of Mascoutah, Illinois; three grandchildren: Nolan, Decklyn and Ledger; a sister Carol Ashbeck of Edgar, Wisconsin; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother-in-law Richard Ashbeck.

Gary Wayne Kirkpatrick, age 68, of Bartlett, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

Private graveside services, with full military honors by the Benton American Legion Post #280, V.F.W. Post #2671, and the United States Marines Corps, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery of Benton, with Rev. Howard Johnson officiating.

Local services are under the direction of the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton.

Gary graduated from Morton East High School in Cicero, IL, Class of 1972. He then joined the United States Marine Corp that Fall, proudly serving his country for two years before being honorably discharged in 1974. He earned the Expert Rifle Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

Gary worked as a transportation coordinator. He was very outgoing and was always ready to help others. He loved holidays with his extended family, especially Halloween and Christmas. He loved to party and was always the first to fight and the last to leave!
Gary was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children, Gary Wayne Kirkpatrick Jr. and Rhonda Marie Kirkpatrick; siblings, Sandra (Jim) Holz and Michael (Connie) Kirkpatrick; nephews, Adam (Alicia) Smith and Michael (Nicole) Smith; great-nephews, Austin Smith and Cameron Smith; and numerous cousins.
